EASL Congress 2027
The congress website restyled to a newly approved design, then taken live ahead of the opening of registration and abstract submission.
New design. Fixed date.
EASL had an approved new design for its congress website. The site needed to match it before the most important moment in the congress cycle: the opening of registration and abstract submission on 28 September 2026.
The site was already live, in daily use, and built on an existing WordPress stack. It needed a restyle, not a rebuild, and it had to be done in days.
Registration and abstracts open on 28 September. Thousands of delegates arrive on day one.
Content, forms and data had to stay untouched while the new look was built.
Astra, Elementor and ACF already powered the site, and the team knew how to edit it.
EASL blue, EASL red and Helvetica Neue, applied consistently everywhere.
Why it was built this way.
Restyle, don't rebuild
Keeping the existing WordPress stack meant no migration, no retraining and far less risk. Only the design layer changed; the content and the editing workflow the team knew stayed the same.
Design tokens first
Brand colours, typography and spacing were set once, globally, in the theme. Every page inherits them, so the whole site changed consistently and future pages stay on-brand.
Build locally, deploy safely
The work happened on a full local copy. Templates and settings were then ported to the live site, and the live database was never overwritten, so registrations and content were never at risk.
Templates the team can own
Global Elementor templates for header, footer and key sections, so EASL staff can keep editing pages without needing a developer.
